Ala-Archa
Kyrgyzstan's national nature park, Ala-Archa, is situated 40 km. south of Bishkek in the Kyrgyz Ala-Too mountain range at the altitude of 1600m. to 4860 m.( Korona Peak). The total area of the Ala-Archa is 19,5 thousand sq. km. In 1985 the park was declared a nature reserve.
The park's best offerings are trekking and climbing in rocky, icy spruce-clad canyons up to an elevation of almost 5000 m. above sea level. This extensive trek leads you far from civilization and therefore requires serious preparation. One of the best treks is the route to the Ak-Sai canyon and the Korona peak. Ala-Archa is full of wildlife, including eagles, ibex, Marco Polo sheep, wolf, bear, lynx, boar and also the rarely seen, but well-known snow leopard.
